A fab swedish home in neutrals and a cute doggy!

Hello! I hope you had a great weekend?! I'm on an early morning train with Southern Sweden flashing passed the window as I type (and matchsticks holding open my eyes - I'm not a morning person, are you?!). But I can just about see enough to discover this lovely home in all it's soft grey, brown and blues. A couple of things struck me the most - firstly the use of natural materials throughout - rattan, leather, shells etc, and secondly the pages from a book used as a wall decoration. I've seen this before in the bedroom of an Australian home in 'Holiday at Home'. And spot the hungry doggy, waiting for her breakfast....

I wonder what book it is? Which would you choose? Something romantic perhaps?

I also love the industrial touches - the side table in the sitting room and bedside table are fab, dont you think?

Is there anything that struck you about this home? Apart from that very cute doggy of course!

This weekend I had a glance through my archive of Australian homes - they are just so fantastic! I really feel Australia is having a design moment right now. I'm a huge fan of the blog Design Files too - do you follow that blog too?

Have a great start to the week!

PS Thank you to everyone who entered the Blackthumb / Sne Design give-away this weekend, the winners have now been announced here. Don't forget you can get 10% off all beautiful products at Blackthumb and Sne Design until 8th May!

An elegant Swedish space in neutrals

Oh to live in an apartment like this. The high ceilings, the beautiful wood floor, the original kakelugn (tiled fireplace). The space oozes elegance and serenity. The good news is it could be one of ours (it's for sale! - ha! Sweden anyone?!). The less good news is the furniture's not included- loving that safari daybed. Emigrating to Sweden or not, we all get to enjoy this beautiful space in all it's neutral glory right here, today. Could you see yourself padding around this apartment?

We might not all have a spacious, light filled space but we can take inspiration from the lovely details - for example, there's always space for the aforementioned daybed right? The lovely palm (in a zinc pot from Granit) and rugs (try Le Souk) add an exotic Moroccan feel. And I'm loving that nook - which is actually great small space inspiration - the owners have used the bottom shelf as a little spot for a coffee break - see other fab nooks here for inspiration.

Is there anything that stands out to you about this space?

Other spacious, light filled spaces include the beautiful Danish home on a hill and the breathtaking home of Danish novelist Annika Von Holdt (if you don't follow her beautiful life on instagram, it's a must!).

Have a lovely day!

PS I was so happy yesterday's holiday home was so popular among those of you in Canada (in particular), thanks for all your comments. I've added Georgian Bay to my travel hit list!

A small space in Gothenburg in neutrals

Let's visit the Swedish west coast today and this charming space-efficient small apartment in Gothenburg. The home has many of the lovely original 1920's features including wooden floor, serving cabinets and pantry. But I also like the way it's been decorated using neutrals, dusty shades of blue and touches of wood and rattan for a warm feel. I'm a big fan of Gothenburg since it's the gateway to one of my favourite places on earth: the stunning west coast archipelago with its dozens of islands and pretty fishing villages. We love to explore it by sail boat in the summer. But in the winter, I could definitely pad around here, how about you?!

Is there anything that stands out to you about this apartment?

I'm a big fan of the brass pendant over the dining table (this one is similar). Rattan is trending right now too- are you a fan? I've got a peacock chair in my bedroom which I love (they're often coming up on Etsy), do you have anything rattan in your home?

More beautiful small space inspiration can be found here. It's amazing what you can do with a little imagination.

Have a lovely day!

A serene home in neutrals and dusty hues.

Hello! I hope you've had a great start to the week?! Today I'm inspired by a home decorated in neutrals, muted pastels, grey and white. The use of soft textiles throughout also work to create a relaxed. homely feel. It's actually a fairly small space (53 metres square) but the owners /designers have made clever use of every inch. What a lovely home!

Just like in yesterday's home, I can see so many pieces I love  - Sitting room: rug similar to the one shown in this fabulous home from private0204,  Gubi mirror. Bedroom: Felt ball rug, linen bedding and Hay boxes. Dining area: Bumling light. Office: Tivoli radio, Eames DAW chair. Hallway: Vitra Hang it All.

Anything in particular you love about this home?

Have a lovely day!

A fabulous Swedish apartment in neutrals

Hello Monday! Finding beautiful homes on 'Hemnet' is a favourite past time and this blog wouldn't be the same without featuring at least one Swedish property for sale during the week! And have I got a fabulous one to kick off the week with! I'm not sure what I love most about this mostly white apartment  - the high ceilings and cornicing? The beautiful wood floor? Or simply the owners impeccable style and neutral colour scheme. There's just so much inspiration to be taken from this space...

In case you're wondering where a few of the items are from I spy: a Bertoia side chair, the DLM table, cross blanket and sheepskin throw in the sitting room, and Ferm living Half Moon basket and Thonet 209 chair at the desk the bedroom.

Such a perfect home to start the week with don't you think?! Anything in particular that inspires you?

Have a lovely Monday!
